Transitioning to a Higher Level

God is working to transition His corporate body to higher levels of maturity. He is preparing us for greater exploits and for a mighty move of God.

Change is an inevitable part of this transition. Avoidance of change is a decision to settle for less than God’s best. Are you prepared to settle? I hope not. In our self-erected comfort zones we can become satisfied and lose that hunger for more and more of God and what He has for us.

Hosea 13:6 reads, “When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.”

Are you looking ahead and rejoicing in God and the vision God is birthing in this season upon us … or are you looking backward to the good old days and remaining in a place of mourning over what you have perceived to have lost?

Apostle Chuck Pierce shares, “the grief of one season must end in order for you to awaken to the next.” He precedes this statement by providing an important revelation regarding Jarius’s 12 year old daughter who died and had been raised from the dead by Jesus. He shares how the girl represents the next generation or administration and she lay dormant. Jesus commanded the wailing to cease. Then He commanded the child to arise (see Luke 8:49-55).1

The answer here is to arise to the new season God has appointed with our eyes fixed on Jesus rejoicing and delighting in God’s way and will.

Proverbs 8:30-31 reads, “Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him, rejoicing in His inhabited world, and my delight was with the sons of men.”

It is God’s desire that the mighty move of the Holy Spirit flows unsquelched into every life. Yet what happens when it comes to rigid mindsets and legalistic structures that have been erected opposing various aspects of God’s Holy Ghost move? God is a gentlemen, He does not force His will on anyone.

A good example of God’s work being squelched is found in Mark 6:4-6, “But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.’

Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”

All revelation must be received and accurately discerned. Unfortunately, the subconscious mind has the capacity to cloud the truth through faulty belief systems and exalted thought patterns and fill in those things not yet understood with its own bias to promote its own will.

This is why it’s so important to submit to God, take on God’s will and take authority over these faulty belief systems by demolishing them in Jesus Christ’s name.

God calls us to meditate on His word day and night so that we may know His will, His way, and His truth. Ephesians 5:17 AMP teaches us not to be vague and thoughtless, but to understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.

Unwillingness is a main cause for lack of revelation discernment. Jesus said, “If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority” (John 7:17).

I believe the main reason people have such a struggle with unwillingness is because of self-centeredness rather than God-centeredness. The devil promotes self-centeredness as a way to keep people blind to the truth. He knows if he can keep people blind to the truth then he can hinder a person in their faith.

All too often it’s desperation and affliction that brings a person to the point of re-evaluating their mindsets. Consider the Syrophoenician woman in Mark 7:25-30. She was a Gentile but she pressed through all objections to receive deliverance for her daughter vexed of the devil.

Have mindsets we have forged as rules to protect us and/or to advance our self-interests fulfilled God’s purposes or have they become inhibitors to what God wants to accomplish through the Holy Spirit?

This is a question we must face and answer. The challenge is to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal ungodly mindsets and lies we have believed that are keeping us from fully transitioning in this season. It is revelation from the Holy Spirit that will set us free.

Consider the hireling mindset. Jesus tells us in John 10:12-13, “But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.” The hireling mentality is focused on what’s in it for me.

The hireling mindset narrows a person’s viewpoint so that he/she loses sight of God’s overall plans and purposes. Those purposes may be for a region and a church that God sends a person to work in. Under the influence of a hireling mentality, men and women may hop between churches in pursuit of filling their own agenda.

Losing sight of God’s corporate plan to touch and complete a good work in a particular place, too many are abandoning their God assigned posts.

Corporate success cannot be achieved apart from being God-centered and seeking for God’s will above our own. A shepherd’s heart is willing to make sacrifices consistent with God’s plans and purposes even at the expense of personal desires. We must adopt God’s will.

Consider the religious leaders of Jesus day. They held so tightly to a legalistic viewpoint that they were blinded to spiritual truths Jesus was trying to reveal to them. Their blindness became their downfall.

Luke 19:43-44 reads, “For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

Being blinded to truth distorts our overall view. It interferes with our ability to operate fully in faith.

As we cast down mindsets opposing what God wants to accomplish in the name of Jesus Christ and submit our thinking to the obedience of Christ, we give opportunity for more of God’s revelation to have its place. Our faith is able to advance to new levels. We begin to see more opportunities and are able to extend our borders in ways we never saw before.

God inspired revelation registers truth to our hearts and works to set us free so we are able to soar higher in Christ. Jesus said in John 8:32, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Jesus came to bring rest and restoration from the burden of sickness and sin. Yet, the mindset of the scribes and Pharisees, for instance, opposed Jesus healing on the Sabbath. They were so focused on the natural things that they missed what Christ was doing to bring people into a continual type of rest (see Hebrews 4:9-11).

Jesus said of the scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23:4, “For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.”

It is not unusual that so much is happening to squelch the move of God’s Holy Spirit. Many wounded are walking around with spiritual war stories because of false prophetic counseling.

Other significant offenses have occurred because freedom in the Spirit has been used as a license to exclude the need for submission, mentorship, and adequate grounding in the Word of God.

Isolating oneself and inhibiting the prophetic and apostolic flow of God may seem like a safe and comfortable solution to these dilemmas, but I assure you they are not solutions. Avoidance keeps us from God’s best.

Corporately we must be pursuing unity, discernment, submission, mentoring and discipleship. We must come to understand the importance the five-fold ministry holds in edification and equipping the body of Christ to transition fully into a higher level of maturity.

Study Ephesians 4:11-16 and understand that the transition God is calling for cannot be achieved by being disjointed. We must learn to work effectively together—each one operating and maturing in their distinct gifting areas.

Ephesians 4:11-16 reads, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

Discernment and diligence in the study of the Word of God is a responsibility we must all lay hold of.

Second Timothy 2:15 (AMP) reads, “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.”

In our society we are facing enormous winds of change. Some people are already breaking under the enormous pressures of these winds. Still others have dug their roots deep into the Word of God and are flowing with the Holy Spirit–experiencing God’s miraculous power and grace.

Are you ready to receive and transition to all God has for you in this divine season? This cannot happen except you abide in the vine, are willing to undergo change and pruning of ungodly mindsets. A corporate transition is occurring to higher levels of maturity that defies the reasoning of man, but embraces the great and mighty move of the Holy Spirit of God.

Let’s position and apply ourselves so that we don’t miss the opportunities God has in store.
